On January 10, 2020, Iwata Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 7272) announced today that the new YRM20 surface mount machine * will be launched on April 1, 2020
This platform is built on a brand new next-generation platform, demonstrating that this efficient and high-quality modular surface mount machine is an intelligent factory

It utilizes two types of heads: a newly developed high-speed multi-purpose rotary (RM) head that provides world leading installation performance (under optimal conditions) when used in conjunction with a new high-speed feeder*
2 for 115000CPH * 3, as well as a 1-nozzle solution that combines high speed and versatility through a newly designed online (HM) nozzle.
It has a high installation accuracy of ± 25 μ m (Cpk ≥ 1.0) and supports the installation of 0201 (0.25 × 0.125mm) sized microchip components.
In addition, the newly developed conveyor can handle a maximum plate width of 510mm, and the optimized layout can improve transfer speed and greatly reduce the time required for plate replacement. Adopting the high-speed transmission system inherited from the advanced modular ∑ series, efficient production has been achieved, reducing the restriction of head entry when the front and rear workbenches interfere, and improving productivity.


In addition, the GUI (graphical user interface) on the operation screen has been updated, making intuitive operations easier.

1) A new generation platform that embodies smart factories
YRM20 uses a new machine control system that can cope with the constantly increasing data speed and capacity requirements of the production site in the new era. Our new fast and powerful application software can seamlessly, securely, and wastelessly interact with peripheral systems and software.

The new machine adopts the unique and effective design created by UP! Unique and mature SMT (Surface Mount Technology) business philosophy.
2) Two head device, combining a rotating head and a multifunctional online head, can achieve world leading productivity
-Next generation high-speed rotating (RM) head combined with Sigma technology

The new rotary magnetic head, tailored specifically for the next generation platform, can be used in conjunction with a durable new high-speed feeder and increases the paper feed speed, achieving a speed of 115000 CPH, which is the fastest among similar products in the world and can achieve excellent productivity.
-The inline (HM) head with updated control system provides high speed and amazing versatility

-The new servo system combined with the constantly evolving inline nozzle can achieve an extremely fast speed of 98000 CPH (under Yamaha Motor's optimal conditions). This machine is customized based on the concept of a one head solution and can use lightning fast multifunctional packaging to process a type of ultra small component, large component, and all parts in between.
3) High precision, high-quality microchip installation
The new design of X-rays reduces thermal deformation and can be used under high-precision installation conditions of ± 25 μ m (Cpk ≥ 1.0). This enables the machine to process 0201 sized microchip components.
The installable component size of RM head is 0201 to 12 x 12 mm, and the installable component size of HM head is W 55 x L 100 mm.
The new component recognition camera of this machine can switch between line and area images to achieve flexible, faster, and higher quality recognition.

In addition, the new nozzle linked to the ID achieves high-speed, low impact installation through a lighter nozzle slider. The maintenance work is also more effective than before, as the nozzle can be used together with an automatic nozzle changer.
4) Faster production speed
The newly developed conveyor can handle board widths up to 510 millimeters, with optimized layout and faster transportation speed, significantly reducing the replacement time of printed circuit boards and thus improving effective production cycles.

The machine also uses overspeed motion, which has Sigma technology to achieve efficient production. Reducing head entry restrictions when there is interference between the front and back tables further improves actual productivity.
5) A GUI interface with improved controllability and visibility through newly designed applications
The new GUI features advanced design and an easy to read layout, enabling intuitive user control. The new operator mode enables users to only operate necessary controls, thereby enhancing the controllability of the production site.

In addition, thanks to the new visual system and interface, the time required to create part data for parts with complex shapes has been greatly reduced.
