-Instrument Introduction

This experiment investigates the characteristic parameters of Gaussian beams, as well as the transmission and transformation properties of Gaussian beams through thin lenses, with a focus on evaluating and measuring beam quality. We have established a spot measurement system using CCD as the spot detector, combined with computer and measurement software. The beam intensity distribution of He Ne laser was measured, Gaussian beam parameters were calculated, and the quality factor was measured using hyperbolic fitting method. The entire system has a simple optical path structure, using a surface array CCD as the detection system. The laser beam is attenuated and directly irradiated onto the CCD, so that the size and shape of the image collected by the CCD are the same as the cross-sectional size and shape of the incident laser beam (represented by pixel size). And perform necessary processing on the image, mainly including image smoothing and image grayscale calibration. Subsequently, the calibrated digital image signal is selected for analysis and calculation to determine the relevant parameters of the laser beam. This experiment involves knowledge in optics, mechanics, electronics, and other fields, which is very suitable for experimental teaching in optics majors and can also be used for spot measurement under general requirements.
