Generally, the requirements for step distance vary depending on the level of surrounding rock. For example, the distance between the inverted arch and the third level surrounding rock of the tunnel face should not exceed 90m; the distance between the fourth level surrounding rock should not exceed 50m, and the distance between the fifth level and above surrounding rock should not exceed 40m or according to design requirements; The distance between the secondary lining and the face of the tunnel shall not exceed 200m for Class I and II surrounding rocks, 120m for Class III surrounding rocks, 90m for Class IV surrounding rocks, and 70m for Class V and above surrounding rocks. This system installs a safety step distance collection terminal based on millimeter wave radar at the secondary lining or inverted arch position, and sends the step distance information in real-time to the server's database through the collection terminal via wireless network. The system calculates the step distance length through model algorithms and provides over limit warnings based on the type of surrounding rock.
