working principle
The photochemical reflectance index (PRI) is calculated by adding the difference between the reflectance of the canopy at 532nm and 570nm to the sum of the two. Therefore, both upward and downward sensors need to be installed simultaneously to calculate the reflectance of the canopy at these two wavelengths.
The upward SRS-PRI sensor detects light intensities at 532nm and 570nm. The measurement results represent the intensity of incident light from the sky. The sensor has undergone cosine correction and has a hemispherical field of view. During installation, it is necessary to ensure that there is only the sky within the field of view, without any canopy or other features.
The downward SRS-PRI sensor also detects light intensities at 532nm and 570nm. The measurement results represent the intensity of reflected light from the canopy. The field of view of the sensor is limited to within 36 °, which allows the sensor to accurately face the measured canopy.
