RG2 incremental linear grating
RG2 and RG4 are the most commonly used Renishaw gratings, providing highly reliable position feedback even under conditions where most open linear gratings are not suitable.
RG2 is an open non-contact linear grating system that can eliminate friction and wear, ensuring reliable high-speed and high-resolution motion. RG2 has a unique 20 µ m grid spacing, ensuring excellent signal stability even under conditions where most open linear gratings are not suitable. The RG2 reading head series includes RGH22, small RGH24, and ultra small RGH25. These three reading heads all have optical filtering systems that can read gold-plated steel strip rulers with a grid spacing of 20 µ m and a resolution of 5 nm. Many of the world's leading linear motion original manufacturers install these products as standard configurations. In addition, these products are widely used in medical, machine tool PV、 Semiconductor and FPD manufacturing fields.
option
Provide a 20 µ m analog signal cycle or a digital signal resolution ranging from 5 µ m to 5 nm. All RG2 linear grating systems are equipped with unique integrated LED installation indicator lights, which turn green if installed correctly. All models of reading heads have reference zero and/or limit switches. The reference zero position provides a repeatable starting position or zero point, while the limit switch indicates the end point of the travel. RGH22 has a dual limit switch option, providing separate signal outputs at both ends of the stroke.
technology
Infrared light-emitting diodes emit light onto the engraved surface of the grating ruler, and then reflect the light back into the reading head through a transparent indicator grating engraved surface. This creates sine interference fringes on the detection surface of the reading head. This optical system adopts the technique of evenly dividing many stripes, effectively filtering out signals that do not match the grating ruler's engraving period. Even in the case of contamination or minor damage to the grating ruler, signal stability can be ensured.
The thermal expansion characteristics are often an important factor determining the overall measurement accuracy. The RGS20-S steel strip ruler is fastened at the end, forcing its expansion characteristics to be consistent with those of the base material, without the need to compensate for different expansion coefficients.
The unique optical design ensures very small short cycle errors, with cycle errors (i.e. electronic subdivision errors) typically less than ± 0.15 µ m. The linear error characteristic is every 60 mm ± 0.75 µ m, or any ± 3 µ m per meter.
RG2 has a reliable and durable grating ruler, excellent measurement performance, and can be cut to any length according to user needs. The surface of RGS20-S gold-plated steel strip grating ruler is painted, unlike traditional grating rulers that require careful operation and cleaning. The back comes with self-adhesive, making installation simple and fast; There are different installation tools to choose from for various models of reading heads. Stick the reference zero position, limit switch, and terminal pressure block to the corresponding positions to complete the installation.

The RG4 open non-contact linear grating system can eliminate friction and wear, ensuring reliable high-speed and high-resolution motion. The 40 µ m grid spacing enables the grid ruler to have higher working speed and looser installation tolerances. In addition, the RG4 system is capable of reading more types of grid scales.

The RG4 linear grating reading head provides a 40 µ m analog signal period or a digital signal resolution from 10 µ m to 50 nm. RGH34 is an ultra small reading head, while RGH40 and RGH41 are fully encapsulated reading heads. All systems are equipped with unique integrated LED installation indicator lights, which turn green if installed correctly. All models of reading heads have reference zero and/or limit switches, and RGH40 and RGH41 have dual limit switches. The reference zero position provides a repeatable starting position or zero point, while the limit switch indicates the end point of the travel.
technology
Infrared light-emitting diodes emit light onto the engraved surface of the grating ruler, and then reflect the light back into the reading head through a transparent indicator grating engraved surface. This creates sine interference fringes on the detection surface of the reading head. The optical principle used in RG4 is basically the same as that of RG2, except that the light emitted by the infrared light-emitting diode is reflected at a 90 ° angle to the grating scale direction, rather than parallel reflection. This optical system adopts the technique of evenly dividing many stripes, effectively filtering out signals that do not match the grating ruler's engraving period. Even in the case of contamination or minor damage to the grating ruler, signal stability can be ensured.
The working principle of RG4 series grating allows the use of multiple types of grating rulers. RGH41 and RGH34 reading heads are compatible with RGS40-S steel strip ruler. The grid ruler can be cut according to user needs, and its expansion characteristics are consistent with those of the base material. When painting and cleaning the surface of the grating ruler, there is no need to be as careful as operating a traditional grating ruler; The back of the grating ruler comes with adhesive tape, making installation simple and fast. The unique optical design ensures very small short cycle errors, with cycle errors (i.e. electronic subdivision errors) typically less than ± 0.25 µ m. The linear error characteristic of RGS40-S grating ruler is only 1 µ m per 60 mm, and the accuracy is better than ± 3 µ m at any length.
RGH40 and RGH34 reading heads are compatible with RGS40-G chromium alloy glass grating ruler, with a length of up to 1 meter. RGS40-G is an ideal choice for applications where the grid ruler can be directly installed onto the substrate using only the reference fixture and mechanical fixture, or the adhesive tape provided on the back. RGH40 and RGH34 are also paired with 40 µ m RESR circular gratings, and the multifunctional RG4 reading head can be used on customized reflective engraving gratings for OEM professional applications.
