The activated carbon adsorption device mainly consists of an activated carbon layer and a support layer. Activated carbon has developed pores, a large specific surface area, and high adsorption capacity. It is precisely because of this characteristic of activated carbon that it is applied in the deep treatment of water, such as domestic water supply, sewage treatment in the later stage (purified water), etc.

After a period of use, activated carbon adsorbs a large amount of adsorbate, gradually approaching saturation and losing its working ability. In severe cases, it may penetrate the filter layer.

The main function of the supporting layer is to facilitate the loss of activated carbon from the equipment, and to evenly distribute water during water discharge and backwashing.
