A motor protector is a device that provides comprehensive protection for a motor, alerting or protecting it in the event of overload, phase loss, locked rotor, short circuit, overvoltage, undervoltage, leakage, three-phase imbalance, overheating, bearing wear, or rotor eccentricity. There are two main types of compressor motor protectors widely used both domestically and internationally: bimetallic type and thermistor+electronic model. Their structures are different and their functions are not necessary.


Working Principle:

The built-in high-voltage discharge device of the protector, connected in parallel to the power line (live/neutral/ground), intelligently determines the voltage situation of the line. When the voltage at both ends of the intelligent device is lower than the starting voltage value (such as the normal voltage of 220V on the line), the internal resistance value of the device is close to infinity, and there is almost no current flowing inside, which is equivalent to a broken circuit state. The electrical appliance can be used normally; When the voltage at both ends of the intelligent device is higher than the nominal starting voltage, the anti high voltage device quickly starts to conduct and changes from a high resistance state to a low resistance state. The working current also increases sharply, which is equivalent to a short circuit state. The excess energy on the circuit is discharged, and after the high voltage is converted by the protector, the residual voltage of the circuit drops to within 1000V, ensuring that the instantaneous high voltage entering the backend electrical appliance reaches the range that the appliance can withstand, achieving safety protection for the appliance.

1) Thermal energy conversion: By absorbing and releasing thermal energy inside the anti high pressure device, the energy value is reduced;

2) Circuit discharge: prevent the high-voltage device circuit from conducting, allowing some excess energy to return through the circuit;

The protector releases energy from the circuit through the above two modes, causing the residual voltage of the circuit to decrease and reach a safe range that the electrical appliance can withstand.
