Longmen milling machine, abbreviated as Longmen milling machine, is a milling machine with a gantry frame and a horizontal long bed. The gantry milling machine consists of a gantry frame, a bed worktable, and an electrical control system.

The portal frame consists of columns and top beams, with a crossbeam in the middle. The crossbeam can move up and down along the two column guide rails. There are 1-2 milling heads with vertical spindles on the crossbeam, which can move laterally along the crossbeam guide rail. A milling head with a horizontal spindle can also be installed on each of the two vertical columns, which can move up and down along the column guide rail. These milling heads can simultaneously process several surfaces. Each milling head is equipped with a separate electric motor (with a maximum power of 150 kW), transmission mechanism, control mechanism, and spindle components. [1]

A movable worktable is mounted on the horizontal long bed and covered with a protective cover. During processing, the workpiece is installed on the worktable and undergoes longitudinal feed motion accordingly.

There are also some variations of gantry milling machines to adapt to different machining objects.

① Longmen boring and milling machine: The crossbeam is equipped with a milling and boring head that can be milled and bored. Its spindle (sleeve or slide) can perform axial dynamic feed and has a motion fine adjustment device, with a fine adjustment speed as low as 5 millimeters per minute. ② Longmen drilling and milling machine: The crossbeam is equipped with a power head, and drilling and milling operations can be completed by installing drill bits or milling cutters through connecting rods.
