Instrument Introduction

If the hydrogen content in molten aluminum can be controlled, the quality of aluminum alloy castings will be substantially improved. Aluminum alloy absorbs hydrogen gas in liquid state, and if it is not removed, pores will form in the casting. Therefore, it is very important to accurately measure the hydrogen content in the molten aluminum before pouring, so as to ensure that the hydrogen content of the aluminum liquid is controlled within the allowable range after degassing and refining.
At present, there are two types of hydrogen measurement methods for molten aluminum that have been applied on site: qualitative observation and quantitative measurement.
The qualitative observation method mainly involves reducing the pressure and solidifying the molten aluminum sample, observing the generation of bubbles and comparing them with known samples, or checking for cauliflower like appearance and bubbles on the metal surface, or measuring the specific gravity of the solidified metal. Such techniques generally can only provide qualitative information on hydrogen content, and human factors and metal purity have a significant impact, making them suitable for situations with lower requirements.
*The bubble method involves the operator recording the pressure and temperature at which * bubbles appear in the molten aluminum liquid, and referring to an empirical data comparison table to determine the hydrogen content. The advantage is that it is simple and intuitive, but due to visual observation and subjective factors, it cannot be used as an accurate quantitative instrument.
The graphite probe method is to directly insert the probe into the aluminum liquid, measure the hydrogen gas diffused into the vacuum system, and calculate the hydrogen content according to the SIEVER law. The advantage is that the measurement results are relatively tired, but the disadvantage is that the probe needs to be replaced frequently, the operating cost is high, and the instrument is inconvenient to move between different crucibles, and the measurement time is long.
In contrast, HYSCAN's quantitative depressurization directly measures hydrogen content, which relies on mature technology and has the highest measurement time and accuracy among similar products. The instrument has low operating costs, is sturdy and durable, and can be easily verified on site, making it an ideal choice for industrial and laboratory applications.

main features

High analysis accuracy
Fast analysis speed
Low operating costs
Easy to operate and safe
The instrument is sturdy and durable
Suitable for furnace front environment

Basic principles
Extract a quantitative molten aluminum sample, use rapid depressurization technology to release all hydrogen gas from the aluminum liquid during controlled solidification process, and measure the hydrogen content through a precisely calibrated Pirani vacuum gauge.

Instrument application
Used for quality control and material research in the aluminum and aluminum alloy casting and processing industries, it is an ideal means of evaluating degassing effects, molten aluminum liquid quality, and melting treatment processes. Suitable for laboratory material research, especially for pre furnace casting or aluminum processing sites with multiple insulation furnaces, such as aluminum casting, aluminum foil, and aluminum profile processing.

The HYSCAN II type hydrogen analyzer for molten aluminum is manufactured by the British company Mette and can quickly and accurately measure in the on-site environment of the casting workshop. The instrument is sturdy, easy to move, easy to operate, and safe to use. The hydrogen content analysis of molten aluminum can be completed within 5 minutes, with a sensitivity of 0.01cm/100g.

The HYSCAN II type hydrogen analyzer for molten aluminum can be used not only for quality control in production, but also for material science and process research, as well as evaluation and identification of melting treatment.

The use of HYSCAN II type hydrogen analyzer in molten aluminum has reduced the product scrap rate, thereby reducing the consumption of energy, materials, equipment, and human resources, resulting in significant economic benefits. Normally, the saved funds can compensate for the investment in purchasing instruments within one to two years.

The HYSCAN II type hydrogen analyzer for molten aluminum has been widely used in more than 50 countries around the world, and has been used by several large enterprises such as FAW and FAW Group, as well as multiple universities and research institutions in China.
