The Porometer 3G fully automatic thin film aperture and permeability measuring instrument is a unique fully automatic multifunctional thin film analyzer newly launched by Kantar in the United States. The biggest feature of this instrument is that the method is pollution-free, does not require laboratory modifications, is safer and more convenient, and is also the standard method for thin film determination by ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials).

The Porometer 3G series new products have high precision, high resolution, reproducibility better than 0.5%, wide testing dynamic range (0.02~500 microns), suitable for testing various membrane materials, and comply with ASTM, GB, BS (British Standards Institute) certification, HY/T (China Marine Industry Standard) and other standards. They can be widely used in industries such as filtration materials, microporous membranes, textiles, paper, batteries, ceramics, rock cores, etc.

Principle Overview

According to the capillary permeation method, the pore size and permeability of the film are determined using the Washburn equation. When the material pore is infiltrated by liquid, the capillary tension will cause a certain positive pressure to form inside the pore. Only by applying a certain pressure at one end of the pore can the liquid infiltrated into the pore be dischargedPDiameter of the channel where the liquid is expelledDFollowing the Washburm equation, namely:P*D=4 γ cos θ. Solving this equation can obtain the pore size parameters of the internal pores of the material.
