Cole Parmer SamplePrep Mini Ball MillBM-200
BM-200 (formerly 5120) Mixer/Mill ® Mini ball mill is an efficient and compact laboratory grinder designed specifically for the preparation of small amounts of samples. It is very effective in crushing samples within a range of 1 gram, or mixing samples with a volume of up to 3 milliliters.
The grinder oscillates the grinding tank back and forth thousands of times per minute. The small bottle containing the sample and grinding ball is shaken in a complex motion that combines back and forth swinging and brief lateral movement. The two ends of the grinding jar of the small bottle move in an 8-shaped motion when shaken. Every time it swings, the ball hits one end of the small bottle while grinding the sample into powder and mixing it.
Sample grinding is usually carried out manually using a mortar and pestle, which is not practical for daily sample processing because the speed of manually grinding rock like materials is slow, and repeated use of mortar and pestle may lead to cross contamination. It is very suitable for crushing the hardest rocks, minerals, cement and ceramics, quickly grinding samples to analytical fineness, mixing powders and preparing lotion. Fine grinding of samples can increase surface area to improve the solubility of ICP and AA, as well as the compression or melting of XRF.
Easy to operate:
1. Secure the grinding jar with a clamp and then cover it with a lid
2. Set the operating time and speed of the control device correctly, and press the START button
3. When the operation is complete, open the lid and remove the grinding tank
characteristic
Mainly used for rapid grinding of small samples (1ml/1g level) to analytical grade particle size, with high strength, speed, and multidimensionality. It has faster efficiency and more uniform grinding compared to traditional two-dimensional arc swinging;
High speed (maximum 3500ppm) and multi-dimensional (motion in all directions) oscillations;
The programmable control panel includes speed, running time, and pause functions, automatic safety interlock of the hood, fixture handle+safety stretching ring;
Four speeds within the range of 750-3500RPM: 750, 2000, 3000, and 3500 revolutions per minute, used for grinding hard samples from low-speed mixing to high-speed grinding, and cannot set cycles;
Each batch of samples only takes 20-40 seconds to complete, with a single grinding time of ≤ 5 minutes;
Transparent lid, used to view the sample grinding process;
Low power consumption, can be used in the field with portable battery packs;
When used for XRF or XRD analysis, commonly used configurations include 1 × 5ml steel bottle and tungsten carbide bottle, or 1 × 3.5ml agate grinding jar (grinding configuration);
Polycarbonate, polypropylene, polyethylene, frosted polyethylene and other polymer material grinding tanks are commonly used for sample mixing and blending. They are 6 × 2mL (mixing configuration), 4 × 5mL (mixing), 2 × 7mL (mixing), and 2 × 12mL (mixing);
Grinding media: 3mm, 4mm, 6mm, 7.9mm stainless steel balls; 6mm zirconia beads; 6.35mm agate ball; 7.9mm tungsten carbide ball.
