The Honeywell UDA2182 pH meter calculates pH by measuring the specific conductivity and positive conductivity of ammonia based pure water, and its working principle complies with the international VBG450 standard. In a pure water environment, pH measurement is affected by factors such as unstable liquid contact potential, static charge, grounding conditions, temperature changes, glass electrode quality, and external interference. The corresponding measures taken can only reduce the impact, but cannot completely eliminate it. Therefore, pure water pH measurement has always been a global problem, manifested in large deviations in pH meter readings, instability, and sensitivity to flow rate.
The Honeywell UDA2182PD pH meter uses conductivity measurement method, effectively avoiding the various drawbacks of pH electrode measurement.
The entire system includes instruments, electrodes, flow tanks, cation exchange columns, valves, flow meters, and corresponding pipelines. All components are concentrated on a stainless steel plate.
The instrument has two electrodes, one with an electrode constant of 0.1 cm-1 for specific conductivity measurement, and the other with an electrode constant of 0.01 cm-1 for positive conductivity measurement.
As shown in the figure on the right, the sample water enters the flow tank 1 through the inlet valve to measure the specific conductivity, then enters the cation exchange column to remove all alkalizing reagents, enters the second conductivity electrode to measure the conductivity, and finally the sample water is discharged after passing through the flowmeter.
Application measurement points:
Suitable for pH measurement of pure water containing one or several alkalizing agents and ammonia added pure water, with a positive conductivity<0.3 μ S/cm, pH 7.5-10.5, and measuring points including feedwater, condensate, steam, internal cooling water, etc.
Working Principle:
The instrument simultaneously measures the specific conductivity value (sample water conductivity) and the cation conductivity value (conductivity exchanged with cation resin) of the sample water, and calculates the pH value of the sample water by the difference between the two.
