CMRL 1066 is an improved culture medium 199, initially used for culturing L-line cells in a medium without added supplements. Single layer cells of permanent cell lines were continuously cultured for several years without protein addition. Although the purpose of developing this medium is for serum-free culture, CMRL 1066 can be used to support the growth of various cells under the condition of serum addition. This formula does not contain L-glutamine.
