Copper is an indispensable material in the wire and cable industry, as well as the electrical and electronic industry. Copper is also an important strategic resource for the country. China is a copper poor country, and its annual mining and copper resources cannot meet the needs of construction. Saving copper is an important policy in China's industry and an important strategic deployment in the country's 11th Five Year Plan. Due to the continuous increase in copper consumption, copper prices have skyrocketed, from 29000 yuan per ton at the end of 2004 to 80000 yuan per ton in May 2006, with a staggering increase of 2.75 times. Therefore, the copper-clad aluminum conductor developed by our company is a good substitute for solving the shortage of copper resources, and the innovation of this technology is also in line with the new way for the country to develop a conservation oriented economy. The application characteristics of copper-clad aluminum in power cables are that it is a bimetallic wire coated and welded with copper on the surface of aluminum wire. It combines the functions and characteristics of copper and aluminum into one, maintaining high conductivity while having the advantages of low aluminum density, abundant resources, and low price. Its surface is not easy to oxidize, not easy to scratch, has less creep than aluminum wire, has good welding performance like copper, stable contact between each other, and is easy to install. Significant social and economic benefits: Our company uses heat-resistant cross-linked polyethylene for insulation and sheath materials. Through advanced processing technology, we have developed copper clad aluminum core cross-linked polyethylene insulated wires and cables, enabling the long-term working temperature of cable conductors to reach 90 ℃ and 105 ℃. The current carrying capacity of this cable is about 95% of that of a pure copper cable of the same specification, which can basically replace copper core cables of the same specification, reducing cable costs by 25% and lowering cable laying costs. |
