Purpose:
The AquaPen handheld phytoplankton fluorescence meter uses blue and red measurement light to measure seaweed and suspended blue-green algae. The ultra-high sensitivity can reach up to 0.5 µ g Chl/l, and its high sensitivity and portability enable rapid field measurements of low concentration phytoplankton in natural water bodies. It has a memory capacity of 4MB and is powered by 4 AAA batteries. The data can be downloaded to a computer for software analysis.
