A mixer is a mechanical device that is equipped with a pair of rotors of specific shapes that are relatively reversed, and can flexibly plasticize and mix polymer materials in a closed condition with adjustable temperature and pressure.

Operating principle of 55 liter mixer: During the operation of the 55 liter mixer, the two rotors are reversed relative to each other, and the material from the feeding port is clamped and brought into the roller gap, where it is kneaded and sheared by the rotor. After passing through the roller gap, it touches the lower top bolt sharp edge and is divided into two parts, which are distributed along the gap between the front and rear chamber walls and the rotor, and then return to the upper part of the roller gap. During the rotation of the rotor, the material is subjected to shear and conflict effects everywhere, causing a sharp increase in the temperature of the rubber material and a decrease in viscosity. This increases the wettability of the rubber on the surface of the compound, allowing for sufficient contact between the rubber and the compound surface. The clumps of the compounding agent, along with the rubber material, pass through the gaps between the rotors, the gaps between the rotors and the upper and lower top bolts, and the gaps between the inner walls of the mixing chamber. They are sheared and broken, surrounded by stretched and deformed rubber, and stabilized in a broken state. At the same time, the convex edges on the rotor cause the rubber material to move along the axial direction of the rotor, achieving a mixing effect and ensuring that the mixing agent is evenly mixed in the adhesive. The compounding agent is repeatedly sheared and broken, causing the rubber material to undergo repeated deformation and recovery deformation. The continuous stirring of the rotor ribs ensures that the compounding agent is evenly dispersed in the rubber material and reaches the desired degree of dispersion. Due to the much greater shear effect on the rubber material during mixing in the internal mixer compared to the open mixer, the rubber mixing temperature is higher, resulting in a higher rubber mixing rate in the internal mixer compared to the open mixer.
